Roots In the Round is proud to present Singer and Songbirds Songwriter Festival. This 4-day event celebrates the songwriter and the local talent we have in the area. This event-FULL weekend will feature a wide range of events from Song Swap Sessions to songwriter competitions and even Birdwatching & Picnic Pickin' and so much more. Take a look!
Songbird competition
April 16, 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Calling all songbirds. The Songbird Contest is a brand new platform we are offering! Join us at The Old Jail on Sunday Afternoon, as 10 performers tell us a little bit about themselves and perform one song each for the chance to win various prizes. Roots In The Round’s board members will serve as judges. All entries will walk away with prizes! We are so excited to close out our festival with this great event!

BIRDWATCHIN' & PICNIC TABLE PICKIN
April 15, 8:00 AM - 10:00 AM
Birdwatchin’ & Picnic Table Pickin’ will take place first thing Saturday Morning at The Old Museum on Museum Road at 8 AM. It will be a morning walk along Gregory Creek & attendees will get a handout containing information about area birds. Following the walk, we encourage attendees to bring their acoustic instruments to gather together for some music by the creek side!

Brunch & bluegrass

Brunch & Bluegrass will take place late Sunday morning and run into the early afternoon at The W.A.M.E. Radio Studio! This special event will feature a rising local bluegrass group performing live while you enjoy the flavors of our on-site food truck.
downtown crawl
The Downtown Crawl is a perfect chance to break away and explore the beautiful streets and shops of downtown Statesville. The “tour” will depart from Lake Mountain Coffee at 11:30 am Saturday, following a solo performance from an up-and-coming local artist. The final stop will be The Old Jail, where we will be hosting a great performer from Milwaukee, WI from 1pm-2pm.

Friday & Saturday After Parties will take place at Red Buffalo Brewing, with opening acts to greet you as you arrive, and full-band shows directly after and well into the night to end things right! Feel free to hang out and mingle with us till last call… These parties are gonna be fantastic, come join the fun!
insomniacs dance parties
April 13, 10:30 PM - 12:00 AM
Insomniac's Dance Party will take place at The Old Jail to wrap up Thursday evening and it will feature the artistic stylings of a few of our favorite local hip-hop and R&B performers. This will be a high energy full-band show with an open dance floor and party vibes!
live artist interviews
Live Artist Interviews will be the initial program to kick off the festival. This will take place on stage Thursday afternoon in The Old Jail and it will also be live streamed. Stop in to confirm your tickets, check out the venue, grab some merch, and hear what our special guests have to say! Interviewees will include a multitude of personalities involved with our event and organization.
Local legends showcase

Local Legends Showcase will showcase some of our area’s finest songwriters who have been honing their craft for decades on Saturday afternoon at The Old Jail. This will be a free event, so don’t miss this opportunity to witness a handful of hometown heroes sharing the stage together; there’s no telling what may happen!
song swap sessions
April 14, 12:00 AM - 2:00 PM
Song Swap Sessions will kick off Friday afternoon, with 2 performers sharing the stage at The Old Jail in a laid back manner; sharing stories and playing songs back & forth for 30 minutes. This will be a 2 hour program with four 30-minute sessions and a total of 8 performers to enjoy!
